CloserTo

A love letter for couples two time zones apart

Some loves livea thousand milesapart. And still, somehow, feel like summer.

CloserTo turns the ache of long-distance into something you look forward to: a daily photo from the boy next door who’s now nine cities away, a countdown to the week you’ve been circling on the calendar, and a camera built for when the waiting ends.

The idea

We built an app the way
you’d write a letter.

Cousins Beach taught a generation that some summers change you. That the boy next door can become the boy you wait for. We couldn’t bottle the ocean, but we could build the next best thing — a small, beautiful place that lives on your phone and holds the parts of your relationship that don’t fit anywhere else.

— with love,

Chapter IWhen the miles stretch

The boy doesn’t live next dooranymore. The feeling does.

Four small rituals for the days in between. Because missing him shouldn’t feel like doing nothing.

Daily Photo feature
01 · ritual

Daily Photo

One photo a day, revealed together. Neither of you sees the other’s until you’ve both shared — like opening letters at the same time.

One photo. One small proof that today still belonged to us.

Countdown feature
02 · hope

Countdown

A countdown to the next time you’re together — anniversary, reunion, the flight you’re already nervous about. Because knowing when makes the waiting softer.

Every day is one day closer to the summer.

Shared Journal feature
03 · memory

Shared Journal

Write the parts of your day you’d call him to tell. Private entries, tied to the days you spent apart. He can read them later, or never — that’s yours to decide.

Some feelings need more than a photo.

Throwbacks feature
04 · nostalgia

Throwbacks

Past photos and visit moments resurface at the exact hour you need them — a 2 a.m. reminder that you’ve been through worse weeks than this one, and came back glowing.

Remember why it’s all worth it.

Chapter IIAlways on your screen

Unlock your phone.There he is.

Widgets that live on your lock screen and home screen, so the miles and the days-until are the first things you see — even when you’re not in the app.

Dear CloserTo,

Letters from the girls who waited well.

SJ
Toronto ↔ London · 2 years

Started it as a joke with my boyfriend — 'let’s see how long we keep the streak.' 247 days later, I panic if I almost forget. It’s become the tiniest, most important part of my day.

Sarah & James

MA
NYC ↔ LA · 8 months

Opened the app at 2 a.m. missing him and a throwback from our last visit popped up. I literally cried. Good cried. The kind where you text your mom at 2 a.m. too.

Mia & Alex

PD
Chicago ↔ Mumbai · 1 year

The collages are unreal. We post one after every visit and everyone asks what app it is. Feels like our little thing though, so we mostly don’t tell them.

Priya & Daniel

AK
Seoul ↔ Nairobi · 1.5 years

The journal is my favorite part. Reading what he wrote about his day apart is like getting a letter every single morning. I didn’t know I needed that until I had it.

Aisha & Kenji

EL
Berlin ↔ Sydney · 3 years

He surprised me with a countdown to a trip I didn’t know about. Best notification I’ve ever gotten. I immediately had to sit down.

Emma & Lucas

TR
SF ↔ Bangalore · 2 years

247 days of daily photos and I can see how our love grew. Looking back is like watching a movie of us — the hair changes, the kitchens change, the feeling doesn’t.

Tara & Ravi

LM
Paris ↔ Rome · 6 months

The Film lens makes our visit photos look like a movie poster. We literally framed one and put it in the hallway. My mom thinks it’s a print.

Lily & Marco

JS
Portland ↔ Austin · 1 year

I was skeptical about another couples app. This one actually understands the weird, specific ache of wanting to text someone but it’s 3 a.m. their time.
